COMMUNICATIONS AND ENGAGEMENT OFFICER, UNIVERSITY OF BRISTOL

October 2019 - present

I oversee the communications and engagement portfolio of the Bristol Doctoral College.  As part of a job share, I am responsible for strategic oversight and implementation of the Doctoral College's communications plan in order to engage with current and potential postgraduate research students, academic communities, professional services, and external stakeholders. This includes:

  • digital communications, including website, social media, email communications

  • branding, print and signage

  • public engagement, seminars and recruitment events

  • stakeholder engagement and community-building activities.

MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER, UNIVERSITY OF BATH

November 2018 - January 2020

I managed a team of four marketing and web professionals to deliver on the Faculty of Engineering & Design's marketing, communications and recruitment strategy and ensure its effective implementation. Activities included:

  • strategic planning and team management 

  • web content, digital and social marketing campaigns

  • print and video production

  • international recruitment and marketing

  • event management and collateral

  • data analysis, identifying new areas for growth and promoting research activity.

COMMUNICATIONS AND MARKETING MANAGER, UCL

October 2017 - November 2018

Faculty-level manager for internal and external communications, events, marketing and student recruitment activities across digital, web print and social media.

This included:

  • leading on high-level communications and marketing activities, as well as acting as the main contact point across the faculty for all queries relating to publicity, student recruitment and marketing, website management, events, branding, digital and print content.

  • managing a network of 10 communications professionals and providing them with relevant tools and training.

  • internal communications, including newsletters, building and maintenance of the intranet, branding guidance and guidelines and communicating key events/organisational priorities and development.

  • events publicity and public/stakeholder engagement.

COMMUNICATIONS AND MARKETING OFFICER, UCL

August 2016 - November 2017

I was responsible for digital and print communications, as well as developing the top-level communications strategy across the Department of Science, Technology, Engineering and Public Policy. The role included website management, branding guidance, social media, events publicity, print and digital publications (including annual report and e-newsletters), media relations, student recruitment activities, web-traffic analysis and reporting, and market research.

EDITORIAL AND CREATIVE PROJECTS OFFICER, IMPERIAL COLLEGE LONDON

June 2015 - July 2016

I project-managed high-level publications and marketing materials and oversaw the university's visual identity and editorial style. Working within a team of creative professionals, I managed a portfolio of projects covering print, web, merchandise, signage, and exhibition material. I managed production of the College's key publications, including the alumni magazine and graduation programmes. I also provided training and advice on the visual identity and editorial guidelines for staff across the organisation.

PROJECT EDITOR, PHAIDON PRESS

September 2012 - August 2013

I project-managed publications in the fields of design, food and architecture. This involved liaising with freelance writers, designers and photographers, content development, budgeting and print production.
